QA resources are finite — spend them where the risk is real, not where paperwork makes you feel productive.

I also understand time pressure. In one rush approval, I had 48 hours to clear an order with no chance to visit the factory. Normally I'd verify on site. Instead, I accepted a documented sample test, and I was open about the added risk. It was the right call under the circumstances. Not every decision gets the full protocol.

The one boundary I won't cross is pretending a checklist fixes undefined requirements. If the buyer and seller haven't agreed on what 'acceptable' means, then every inspection afterward is theater — the checklist just organizes the confusion. That's why the agreement has to happen before the purchase order, not after the delivery.

So no, my goal is not to drive our rejection rate to zero. I don't think zero is healthy. A quality process that never finds anything isn't quality assurance. It's decoration.
